This is the summary of the PowerPoint presentations from this January’s consultant CPD teaching programme.
This month’s session provided an update in line with the Royal College of Anaesthetists Matrix.
The aim of this session was to review the “top” papers published during 2015 in the anaesthesia, pain and intensive care medicine. The papers chosen weren’t necessarily those with the highest-impact, but rather those which would provoke debate amongst the attendees (and this certainly was the case!!).
The slide summaries can be downloaded from the links below. The relevant CPD matrix codes were [2E01, 3J03, 3C00]
2015 Top Papers Anaesthesia
2015 Top Papers ICM
2015 Top Papers Pain
This is a copy of the slides I used during a talk I gave at the AAGBI Winter Scientific Meeting day. The full programme of the meeting can be found here.
This (updated) talk was designed to provide an update for anaesthetists in the management of acute spinal cord injury, with a particular focus on cervical spine trauma. I have focused particularly on the evidence (or lack of it) relating to spinal immobilisation techniques and how to safely undertake tracheal intubation in the patient who has proven, or suspected, cervical spine instability.
